We need some good news, good songs and helpful tips, right? I put together a roundup of things I just can't stop talking about right now. Hopefully it helps, makes you smile or both. Want to share what you're loving? Tell me in the comments! (Some of these are affiliate links.)
Listen to Maren Morris & Vince Gill sing Dear Hate.
Maren Morris wrote the song Dear Hate about three years ago and recorded it with Vince Gill last year. It's beautiful. It was released after the Las Vegas shooting this week. I can't stop listening to this song.
She said, "I never knew when would be the right time, but I realized today that there’s never a right time. Hate is everywhere, and I’m sick of not doing enough. In the darkest tunnel, there is still love & music. That’s what it’s here for. Here is Dear Hate. Any cent I see from this I’m donating to the Music City Cares Fund."
A Great October Playlist on Spotify
Speaking of music, I have been listening to author and entrepreneur Emily Ley's October Spotify playlist since she sent it out in her weekly email. It's a great mix for a new month, and I love having it on at home while I'm working. There are many songs that I recognized, but I always appreciate a good mix, and she's the one who introduced me to Dear Hate. Follow Emily Ley's October Playlist here.
I dropped my phone & the screen didn't break.
I dropped mine face down on my kitchen floor last night. Upon inspecting my screen, it looked cracked. But you know what? It was just the glass protector that cracked! That's right...my phone survived.
I went to get a replacement today, because--hello--that's the best possible endorsement I could give. It turns out that if you register your product, they will replace it for free. I didn't have time to do that before traveling, but I will most certainly do it for this one! Worth the $25 I spent at the AT&T store.
Get Unwanted Phone Calls? There's an app for that!
While I was there, I got one of 10 million unknown or unfamiliar calls. The sales rep asked me if I needed to answer it, and I mentioned that I get calls like this all day long, and it's very frustrating. He immediately told me about the FREE app "Call Protect" that will help you track and block unwanted callers. Sign me up! Here's more info on it from the AT&T store, but it looks like you can also just Google "Your provider + Call Protect" and it will point you in the right direction.
FYI, I downloaded it today, and it doesn't back-log your calls, but it will help you going forward. I was a little bummed because I wanted to block these numbers that call day in today. No such luck at the moment, but the AT&T rep swears by it, and I'm looking forward to blocking pesky automated calls!
Another practical tip: I feel the need to share with you my new secret weapon at the kitchen sink. This $6 box of SOS Scouring Pads has been a game changer. I don't know why I've never tried them before, but I was trying to figure out how to get my skillet cleaned from burning something (hi, welcome to my life in the kitchen). SOS Pads cleaned that sucker up in no time! And it worked today on my crockpot that was embarrassing to take places because I had gunk all over it. CLEAN! Apparently it also gets soap scum off shower doors, too. I must say that it scratched the red color off my crockpot in a few places, but that was totally fine considering I've had the thing for 10 years.
